Order under 200 kg

For trials of approximately 1 hour, there's no need to order more than 40 kg de Carbon dioxide ice. The goal is to ensure that the dry ice blasting process applies to the issue at hand, not to complete a full service.

You must, however, know the in order to reduce the number of refills, quantity of dry ice to order from your gas supplier or dry ice distributor:

As a general rule, the minimum quantity to order is 30 kg, but some suppliers may require you to order a minimum of 50 kg (this depends on the region and supplier).

For this type of order (trial), preferably use polystyrene boxes if possible.

Some gas suppliers will allow you to bring your own boxes, while others won't.

Un polystyrene box of 40 kg, excluding dry ice costs on average between 12 and 18 € (France), but you may be required to purchase several units (1 pallet), which you can keep for future operations. You'll therefore benefit from supplying this type of packaging yourself.

Here's one address among others to buy polystyrene boxes: http://www.groupe-sipa.com/

Depending on the ice manufacturer, you'll need to place your order at least 24 hours in advance, preferably before 10:00 AM ou noon by email.

Dry ice order: between 200 and 360 kg

Make sure to order the dry ice

250 kg dry ice box

Your Cryoblaster® ATX25, ATX25-E, CB35 (September 2022", ") consumes on average) consomme en moyenne 200 - 250 kg* of dry ice per day for 7 hours of work.

*: ATX nano between 100 and 120 kg/day

Obviously, these are averages and dry ice consumption depends on the level of contamination to be removed.

Examples below :

● In the case of cleaning an unpowered electrical cabinet, for example, dry ice consumption is approximately 15 to 20 kg per hour (ATX25-E, CB35), meaning that for a job lasting 7 hours, your dry ice consumption will be between 105 and 140 kg.

● On the other hand, for a degreasing operation, you might need to work through 45, or even 50 kg per hour... But, over a day of 7 hours, you consume a maximum of 250 kg, because dry ice blasting is not continuous.

For orders of 200 kg to 360 kg, you must place your order order au in order to reduce the number of refills, 24 hoursin advance, preferably before 10 hours 00 AM ou noonby email.

For orders over 360 kg, be sure to order 48 ou 72 hours in advance.

P.S: Although email is the go-to method for ordering, a quick phone call will save you from unpleasant surprises (pelleting machine breakdown, order overload, email not received...)

Always check the manufacturing date...

Important :

Do not order dry ice for Monday morning first thing: there's a strong chance it was produced the previous Friday: it will therefore beat least 60 hours old !

However, some gas suppliers and dry ice manufacturers provide fresh dry ice Monday morning, especially independent operators, who don't hesitate to wake up very early to produce it.

Bottom line: unless you know your dry ice supplier very well... for cryogenic cleaning Monday operations, have the dry ice made on Monday morning, set up the worksite, then "start blasting" as soon as the dry ice arrives late morning or early afternoon.

Dry ice order over 360 kg...

In the event that your service would last longer à 2 days, and you need 750 kg or more, you might be tempted to order all the dry ice in a single delivery.

But consider the following points…

The longer the time between dry ice production and use, the more cleaning quality suffers.

Over time, the Carbon dioxide ice absorbs moisture: in addition to reduced cleaning power, dry ice promotes the formation of water plugs inside the machine.

This is why when using pellets, it's advised to use it within 72 hours maximum (after manufacture), for traditional cryogenic cleaning operations: degreasing, varnish, glue removal, etc... and to maximize its cleaning properties.

Therefore... it's better to order at least 2 deliveries of dry ice per week for a job lasting 5 days.

In the next article, we'll cover the guidelines for transport, if you're able to pick up the dry ice yourself.
