ELECTRICAL CABINET DRY ICE BLASTING
WHICH SOLUTION(S)?

Electrical cabinet dry ice blasting is one of many applications of dry ice blasting of electrical equipment, allowing you to restore surfaces at lightning speed. Discover in this article all the advantages of this process as well as some videos of services performed with Cryoblaster® equipment.

Electrical cabinet dry ice blasting: why do it?

Why perform a dry ice blasting operation on an electrical cabinet?

Electrical cabinets are sometimes located industy areas, laden with volatile oils, such as food processing plants (flour...), precision machining shops...

Problems arise when dust, or organic substances ou residues,, seep into the electrical cabinet, causing overheatingwaste, of electrical components. Component malfunction and premature failure can prove costly and damage et installations: fires, breakdowns. .

Cleaning electrical cabinets is therefore necessary !

Current methods for cleaning electrical installations

An electrical cabinet clean allows electricians to safely and an perform maintenance work quality and eliminates fire risk.

(Of course, it is the electrician's or technician's responsibility to tighten the terminals and check cable connections, either de-energized or under tension with appropriate personal protective equipment, tools, and qualifications)

However, the solutions currently available for cleaning are:

- manual wiping: use of cloths, air blowing (using an air gun),

- compressed air vacuuming...

- ..

Unfortunately, these techniques yield poor results, on heavily soiled or greasy surfaces. Contaminants like oil films lodge in the smallest crevices, making complete removal impossible...

What would be ideal is aprocessmethod capable of removing, quickly, effortlessly and with greatcarefor surfaces, the various contaminants deposited on electrical components.

The solution? Dry ice blasting

The company Delta Diffusion has been working on electrical installations since 2011, thanks to the dry ice blasting process.

This cleaning technology consists of projecting at supersonic speed onto soiled surfaces dry ice.

Whether cabinets, junction boxes, or tools, all these surfaces can be treated with dry ice blasting. The process is dry, fast, and cleans even the smallest crevices.

Result: : the dry ice dislodges contaminants without damaging surfaces, completely dry.

3 actions at work :

1- kinetic energy: the dry ice creates a shock wave that dislodges dirt,

2- thermal differential: because of the extremely low temperature of dry ice (-78.5), the pollution becomes brittle and retracts

3- sublimation of dry ice in a ratio of 1 to 700: the dirt is blown away!

Method:dry ice is introduced into the Cryoblaster hopper®, the machine is connected to the dry compressed air network, then via the use of a gun and nozzle, the dry ice is projected onto the surfaces to be treated.

IMPORTANT : since the nozzles are Cryoblaster® made of aluminum or stainless steel, the dry ice blasting operation on electrical cabinets must be performedDE-ENERGIZED

For cleaning work on electrical installations: electrical box maintenance, panel cleaning, main distribution board, cabinet service, etc...
Whether you are an industrial operator or maintenance manager, require the technician to present their electrical qualification, just as you would require proof of aerial work certification for work at height...
The minimum requirement being, for work on de-energized installations: B0-H0V electrical qualification
For cleaning work on live installations, other electrical qualifications must be provided (e.g.: Hn-Bn...)
