What is dry ice?
Dry ice is the solid form of gas, carbon dioxide.
First and foremost, CO2 is extracted from industries which, in their manufacturing process, release significant quantities of carbon dioxide.
The industries from which this gas is primarily extracted are: fertilizer manufacturing, ammonia production, hydrogen creation… It can also be extracted from natural underground sources.
Once purified, this gas is pressurized and changes to a liquid state, while being stored in large tanks with gas suppliers: Linde, Messer, Air Liquide, Yara…
Once depressurized, inside a machine called a pelletizer, you get snow that, compacted using a hydraulic cylinder, transforms into ice: pellets of 1 to 3 mm, sticks of 16 mm, tablets and blocks…

- for maintaining the cold chain in case of industrial freezer failure…
- for harvests and protecting grapes against oxidation…
- for eliminating pests, such as rats…
- for dry ice blasting, also called "cryogenic cleaning technology" used for industrial cleaning or auto cleaning, etc.
Examples of uses for individuals
Le it can also be used for more festive applications!
Used in cinema for fogeffects, it is furthermore used for events.

But it can also be used in cooking:
